An eruv is a system of fences, poles and wires that surround a neighborhood. It allows Orthodox Jews to carry items from private to public areas on the Sabbath. The Seward Park eruv surrounds virtually the entire neighborhood. Checked weekly, the eruv is operated and funded by Bikur Cholim-Machzikay Hadath Congregation.
