SPARK | JEWISH MUSIC FESTIVAL, SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, 12:00 – 6:00 PM

On Sunday August 31st the outdoor amphitheater at Seward Park is going to ignite with SPARK— Seattle’s first Jewish Music Festival. Featuring the Moshav Band, Ari Lesser, Sasson and other Jewish themed klezmer, folk, rock, rap and reggae bands, kid’s activities, craft vendors and food! JULIE’S PROGRAM CORNER

Hi everyone! Our Social Hall has FINALLY been restored, as well as the kitchen. Phew! What’s a shul without its kitchen?! It was like a giant gopher had chewed its way right down the center of the kitchen, hit the Social Hall and then finished in the Tiny Tots Room.A round of applause to the Kitchen Committee for dealing with the aftermath of this crazy mess!

MAZEL TOV TO THE BIRK AND RUSSAK FAMILY ON THE OCCASION OF ALEX’S BAS MITZVAH! And just yesterday she was a chubby cutie toddler who moved to Seattle from New York! My how time flies…..LOVE this girl!

TALMUD CLASS WITH RABBI MOSHE KLETENIK, MONDAY EVENINGS, 8:30 PM  

Rabbi Kletenik teaches an Intermediate Level Talmud Class at his home, 6527 52nd AVE S, Monday evenings at 8:30 pm. Tractate Avodah Zarah is studied in depth. Relevant topics include the Laws of Idolatry including the Halachic status of contemporary religions and houses of worship; the prohibition of lifnei iveir, assisting or abetting the commission of a sin; laws of tarovos, mixtures of permitted and forbidden foods; Chalav Yisroel; Gevinas Akum, cheese made by a non-Jew; Pas Akum, bread baked by a non-Jew; Stam Yainam, wine of a non-Jew.

THE SHABBOS PROJECT, OCTOBER 24 & 25

This project was made last year by Rabbi Warren Goldstein, Chief Rabbi of South Africa, to unite and keep one Shabbat together in South Africa. Daniel Cohen, a recent graduate of Northwest Yeshiva High School is involved in bringing “The Shabbos Project” to Seattle on October 24 & 25 along with a committee of community members. The two main aspects of the project are a community Challah Bake and Shabbat Kits which will need funding. The campaign for this funding ends August 31st.
